  1. Mrs Alfred Calderwood is one in the same as Susan Calderwood buried in Blk-7 / Lot-71. Susan Campbell (Mrs John Alfred) Calderwood was my Great Grandmother. There is a year disconnect in death dates…perhaps 1886 is the death date and 1887 was a re-interment? I understand from an old article in Nebraska History Magaines by Mrs J A George (Cordelia Peters), Mrs Alfred Calderwood was the first person buried at Pleasant Hill. The same article (an extract anyway) says the Cemetery was laid out in 1888…so things were in flux.
    Regards…and thanks for posting.

    1. Sue,

Again, thank you for the corrected information. Your comment was originally on the page for (Mrs. Alfred) Calderwood but based on your information that page/cemetery entry has been removed so your comment was moved to this page. We appreciate you contacting us.

  2. Susan Calderwood, nee Campbell, my Great Grandmother was b c1862 in Illinois. She came to Hull with her husband J Alfred and their two young children Eva and J Howard. John’s younger brother James and sister Nannie (Calderwood) Cameron (Delbert) came about the same time & their parents Henry and Rebecca were also homesteaders then. Susan died soon after, quite young. John remarried Mary Clapp and brother James married Mary’s sister Caroline “Linnie”. John’s family left NE for MO then IL but after John’s death, Mary and their son Floyd Guy Calderwood returned to Gering. Mary is buried at West Lawn as is Floyd.
